Backtrack camping is situated half a mile outside the picturesque rural community of Eglwysbach with excellent views of the village and surrounding farmland. A pub can be found in the village within easy walking distance. Close to the coast, the campsite gets just a third of the rainfall experienced in the centre of Snowdonia.

Our location combines escape with convenience, being within easy reach of several of North Wales’ premier attractions, including Bodnant Garden, Gwydir Castle and the medieval walled town of Conwy. We are only half an hour from both the sea and the mountains of Snowdonia, so it couldn’t be easier to take in the sights or to get away from it all!

North Wales is a treasure trove of variety and truly does have something for everyone, whether you prefer to tackle our rugged hills or relax in one of the friendly local cafés.

Snowdonia is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, providing a host of opportunities for walking, climbing and watersports at all levels. Excellent mountain biking can be found on a variety of forest trails and single tracks a short drive from our location. We offer guided activities for our guests.

If you prefer a more relaxed stay, nearby centres like Betws y Coed and Conwy are the perfect places to eat, shop and soak up the local culture. A wide variety of tastes are catered for, with traditional pubs, organic cafés and popular independent restaurants. In many establishments you will find expertly prepared local produce, such as Welsh Black beef and the famous Conwy mussels. Several outlets in the surrounding area sell an excellent selection of locally produced food, art and gifts.

Our area is rich in history, with medieval castles, stately homes, Roman camps and Celtic forts. Many of these, such as Conwy castle, are open to the public, or the more adventurous may prefer to go below ground at Beddgelert, Blaenau Ffestiniog or the Great Orme and discover Wales’ long mining history. North Wales is a centre of Celtic culture, with regular festivals of traditional music and arts, and you will often hear people speaking Welsh, widely believed to be Europe’s oldest living language.
